Our gastgeverij is an excellent base for hiking and cycling. A five minute walk brings you to a large wooded area and if you take a bicycle you will quickly link up with Drenthe's extensive network of bicycle paths.

The local nature is quite varied. Not only are there woods, but also heath and small dunes. Here are just a few things our natural world has to offer: orchids, meadow birds, butterflies, pheasants and deer.

The village of Orvelte and other typical villages in the neighbourhood are definitely worth a visit. And for more cultural history we can recommend the megaliths and their information centre in Borger, the Ellert and Brammert Open Air Museum in Schoonoord, and the Peat Park in EmmerCompascuum.

And you may wish to visit Memorial Center Camp Westerbork near Hooghalen, or the Noorder Zoo in Emmen.

As for contemporary art there are several museums, galleries and sculpture gardens within cycling distance of our hotel. Art routes, open studio days, music and dance festivals are organized regularly during the summer months. A schedule of these activities is available at the hotel.

If you are holidaying with your children, Speelstad Oranje (Play Town Oranje), Kabouterland (Gnome Land) in Exloo, and the Verkeerspark (Traffic Park) in Assen are highly recommended.
